Recreation Updates

Please note the following updates for Idaho Power campgrounds, parks and recreational sites.

Our parks and campgrounds stay open all year, but some services may not be available, and access to some areas may be restricted.

Drinking water has been turned on at Hells Canyon and Copperfield campgrounds in Hells Canyon. It remains off at Woodhead, McCormick and all campgrounds at C.J. Strike. Updates will be posted here.

Boating reminder: Before heading to one of the boat ramps on Brownlee Reservoir, check water levels on our website. Unsettled weather can cause rapid changes to inflows and can impact access to some ramps, especially those at Hewitt Park and Farewell Bend.

Geocaching is a thing at Idaho Power parks. It’s a fun way to explore some of the beautiful areas near our hydroelectric projects, get outside and turn a day trip into an adventure! Learn more here.

The Swan Falls Powerhouse Museum will open April 19 for free, self-guided tours. The museum will be open each Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Labor Day weekend. The day-use park, boat access, and camping areas are open. Details and directions here.

Lower Twin Falls Park and the boat ramp have reopened after upgrades to the parking area, restrooms, and beach.

The Hells Canyon Creek Visitors Center is closed for the season. The boat launch and parking area remain open year-round.

Campfires in approved areas are allowed at Idaho Power campgrounds. Always use caution and follow all posted fire regulations.

Cash payments are not accepted for overnight camping at Cottonwood Park, North Park and Scout Park at C.J. Strike. Campers must make a reservation in advance or pay with a credit card at the kiosk. Sites at Locust Park remain first-come, first-served and payment can be made using a fee envelope at the pay station.

Reservations must by made before 10 a.m. MT the day before your arrival date.

Reserve campsites in advance. Campgrounds fill quickly, so reservations are encouraged to ensure you have a spot when you arrive. Visit our reservations page to secure your spot.

Camping fees are higher when paying with cash or check at the campground, so reserve online and save money. See our updated campground fees.

We encourage all visitors to help prevent the spread of disease by following guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Please enjoy the outdoors safely, and remember to wear a safety vest when recreating in, on or around the water!
